It is with great sadness that we announce that Lt Cdr Mark Weston will be stepping down from Command of West Ham Unit from the 6th August 2010. He has been an inspiration to us all and indeed has kept the Unit one of the best in London Area with us recieving a Burgee for five consecutive years.
Lt Cdr Weston has been in command of West Ham for the last thirteen years and was at Tower Hamlets Unit before coming to us. This certainly is not the end of his Sea Cadet Career, he will continue his commitment to the Corps and help out wherever needed .
His Sucessor will be Petty Officer Christine Weston, who is looking forward to the challenge but also knows that it will be a hard act to follow.
Anyone that would like to send a message to Lt Cdr Weston, please do so through this site and it will be passed on.

The cadets were lucky enough to visit the River Police based in Wapping, the outing started with a presentation about what the River police encounter and what their roles are in the safety of our water and tourist attractions along the Thames.
The cadets then took a looked around the Museum there and saw old uniforms, equipment and various other memorabilia.
We all then went down to the pontoon and saw a few of the boats that the river police use and the other equipment that aid them to keep us all safe.
Congratulations are in order yet again for CI R Brown on her promotion to APO!

Congratulations are in order for our Junior Air Rifle Shooting Team who took this years competition by storm. Leading Junior Brown also won the award for best individual shoot.
The Junior Team also won the Junior Sea Cadet Quiz!! Team memebers were Leading Junior Daisy Brown, Leading Junior Georgia Lulendo, Junior Lauren Maguire and Junior Albert Duker. Congratulations to them all!!!!
Well done to the Senior Shooting team who came 4th in the .22 Shooting competition, they were up against some very good shooters, so did very well to come where they did!! The team consisted of Ordinary Cadets Jamie Harris and Danny Norfolk, Cadet Daniel Mcalernon and Cadet Matilda Lulendo.
It was a fantastic start to 2010 with West Ham Sea Cadets being awarded a Burgee for the 4th consecutive year. A Burgee is a prestigious award given to the top units in the London Area. Its is a tradition for our youngest Junior Cadet to hoist the Burgee up the mast. Below is Leading Junior Cadet Lulendo doing the honour.....
